PURPOSE:
The intention of the Development Cooperation Prize is to contribute, with financial aid, to the execution of a specific action in a depressed area that meets, in its domain, an urgent need for the wellbeing and socio-economic development of a particular community or region.
 
CANDIDATE ACTIONS:

PRIZE:
A single prize is established for each award consisting of a financial contribution that shall necessarily be used to carry out the action for which the prize is awarded. The amount of this contribution, with a maximum of €300,000, shall be determined by the Fundación, at the suggestion of the jury.
 
SCOPE AND AWARD FREQUENCY:
This Development Cooperation Prize is global in scope and will be granted every three years.
 
PRIZE AWARDS:
The Fundación José Entrecanales Ibarra will notify when and where the prizes will be given to their winners.
 
JURY:
A single jury will be established made up of no fewer than nine and no more than twelve members. The composition of the jury will be as follows:
 

  • The members of the Board of Trustees of the Fundación José Entrecanales Ibarra.
  • Between four and seven members of any nationality, selected by the Foundation among persons of recognized prestige in the civil engineering domain and other sectors that include concepts and techniques that are representative of civil engineering, as well as experts in economics and development aid. A chairman of the jury will be appointed.

 
The jury will take its decisions by simple majority and the jury chairman shall have the casting vote in case of ties.
 
The Foundation will obtain from the selected members, at least six months before the jury meeting date, their acceptance of membership.
