2) The doctoral candidate’s line of research must be related to the applications of soil mechanics, rock mechanics or foundation technique to the solution of civil engineering problems.

3) The candidate’s application shall be endorsed by his or her doctoral dissertation advisor, who must be a professor at the Higher Technical School of Civil Engineering of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. The dissertation advisor’s endorsement shall take the form of a report stating the line of research, the objectives pursued and the applicant’s capacity and available time for adequately accomplishing the tasks required by the research. Any supporting merits or statements may be attached to the endorsement.

4) The panel of judges that will decide the award of the grants will be comprised of the Director of the School, who will chair the panel, the Chairperson of the Department of Engineering and Ground Morphology, and the full professor (or, in his or her absence, the permanent professor) responsible for the School’s Geotechnics Teaching Unit, who will act as the panel Secretary.

5) The amount of each scholarship will be €13,464 per year, which will be extendable when the completion of the work requires additional time in the judgement of the professor who endorses the application and of the previously cited panel of judges.
