In 1928, José Entrecanales associated himself with Manuel Távora Barrera to cooperate in the construction of the San Telmo bridge in Seville.

The good rapport between the two men culminated in the construction of the petroleum tanks in the port of Pasajes, as well as several works on the Nuestra Señora del Rosario dike in Cádiz. Their joint activity necessitated the incorporation in Madrid, on March 11, 1931, of the Entrecanales y Távora, S.A. construction company, which they managed jointly until Manuel Távora’s death in December of 1940. The company created by José Entrecanales was set up as an enterprise for the execution of works and projects, offering its customers a comprehensive service supported by new technologies and based on quality.

In this regard, he always inculcated the devotion to “technical excellence” in his students and in the staff of his company. He considered that the fundamental secret of competitiveness lay in that excellence since, when technical excellence was achieved, nearly everything else fell in naturally behind it. In his company Entrecanales also promulgated and practiced continued training for technicians, to the point where the engineers and young field superintendents received notes and extracts from technical journals and books, sent directly by the general manager and making reference to clarifications regarding the works that they were managing.
